Two-time Chopped Champion winner, and host of Snapchat’s first-ever cooking Show, Chopped U, Lazarus Lynch is an African-American media and television figure, author, and the face of the brand, Son of a Southern Chef. New York City born and raised, Lazarus stepped into the kitchen at an early age under the tutelage of his late father, Johnny Ray Lynch, a southern chef from Bessemer, Alabama. Together, they created a special bond in the kitchen that would soon launch into a successful media enterprise. Lazarus’ online and YouTube presence created buzz in 2015 which led him to being casted as a co-host in the ABC Network digital series, Tastemade Get Cookin'. He was a featured host on the Webby-awarded mobile site and app, Tastemade. His website, www.sonofasouthernchef.com, was a 2017 Saveur Blog Awards nominee in the category of Most-Inspired Weeknight Meals. He has been featured on many national television and radio shows, including Chopped, Chopped Junior, Unique Sweets, National Public Radio (NPR), Beat Bobby Flay, and the Today Show for his expertise in soul food cuisine. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Individualized Studies from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. He is a 4-H Luminary alum and World Food Prize Ambassador. He is the host of Comfort Nation on Food Network and releasing his first cookbook with the publishing giant, Penguin Random House in Spring 2019. He lives in New York City.
